We are now completing, incredibly, our eighth season of publishing the Washington Soccer Net.
Launched in 1994 before the World Cup, it was our vision to create a network, in several literal
and figurative senses, of the soccer community.
Technology has finally caught up with our vision, offering opportunities to bring you better
services and more features. The widespread availability of improved communication, including
fax machines, email, and the ever-increasing presence of Internet services, has changed the media
landscape.
The readership survey that we conducted before this season showed that people who get the
Soccer Net are well-connected. Your appetite for information is evidenced by a high percentage
of our readers having access to one or more methods of on-line communication.
|
This finding allows us to offer the Washington Soccer Net in new forms with two big
advantages: sooner, and at a lower price. Starting this Fall, you will be able to subscribe to the
Net and get it at least one day earlier (sometimes several days, depending on your local post
office), and for less money. You may choose fax or Internet access to all the youth leagues, state
cup, high school, and D.C. United information that you get the Net for now.
The price will be reduced to $25 per season, with early-bird discounts for renewing early. For the
best savings and convenience, you can order two seasons before July 31 for only $45. While we
still will offer the original hard-copy format delivered by first-class mail, the costs for printing,
envelopes, labels, postage and handling require us to raise the subscription price.
|
As an extra incentive for choosing Washington Soccer Net on-line, each subscription for Fall
1997 will include a free subscription to ScoreNet (which will begin offering subscriber-only
services in September).
You can visit Washington Soccer Net On-Line now to
get a sneak peek at the convenience of electronic publishing. We look forward to our ninth
season to be our best ever, and to continuing to evolve to meet your needs for timely, accurate,
and informative soccer news.
Thank you for your support.
